The Carrier Roller, also known as Top Roller or Upper Roller, is mounted above the track frame of the Hitachi EX40 crawler excavator.

Its main function is to support the upper track chain and maintain correct track alignment during machine travelling. The carrier roller reduces friction between the track chain and undercarriage frame, helping improve travelling stability and extend undercarriage service life.
